For the first time, the main second Hakafot celebration took place at the Western Wall. Thousands of people participated in the Hakafot, which were instituted in earlier generations to enable Israelis to identify with the Diaspora, which is celebrating Simhat Torah on Thursday evening.
Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat participated in the Hakafot, as well as singers Aharon and Yonatan Razel.
