Florida Jewish welfare organizations report that they are prepared for the coming hurricane and are endeavoring to help the elderly population which cannot leave affected regions.
Yona Longer of the Florida Hessed organization said that "we have been receiving telephone calls from welfare organizations throughout the US and hundreds of volunteers are preparing to come to Florida and offer assistance in all eventualities. This is heartwarming and encouraging and we hope and pray that we will not require all of this and that the hurricane will pass peacefully."
