It has been disclosed that the bank robber who was shot to death by police in Zichron Ya'akov was 28-year-old local resident Sergey Hanukayev.
Hanukayev was suspected of having robbed a local bank of several thousand shekels. Eyewitnesses told police he fled to his home. An officer who was part of a force sent to the residence shot Hanukayev after Hanukayev threatened him with a knife. Hanukayev was taken to hospital, where he died from his wounds.
