The Ministry of Agriculture received a warning Tuesday from the European Union that the export of some crops to European countries will be discontinued as of January 1, if no special measures are taken against the false or virtual apple moth, also known as the false codling moth (Ash tapuach medumeh in Hebrew), which has been found in crops, according to Maariv.
The multi-crop pest can cause great damage to agricultural produce. Throughout the world, and especially in Africa, the moth attacks more than 70 types of crops.
