The Magen David Adom Blood Services Center held a ceremony on Sunday to distribute certificates of appreciation and prizes to the Israel Defense Forces units who were outstanding in organizing blood donations in 2016.
During the year, 248,905 units of blood were donated in Israel, of which 66,467 were donated by soldiers at various bases. Thus, the total amount of blood donated by the IDF constitutes about a quarter of all blood transfusions donated in Israel in 2016.
