A 40-year-old teacher who has been teaching full time for over a decade, submitted a claim to the NII demanding that her hoarseness be recognized as an occupational ailment.
The National Insurance Institute(NII) refused to recognize the ailment since the teacher had not proved a connection between the hoarseness and her work but the Tel Aviv Labor Court appointed an ENT expert who stated unequivocally that there is more than a 50% connection between her work as a teacher and her hoarseness and therefore the teacher should consider changing her profession.
The court thereafter recognized the hoarseness as an occupational ailment.
