A police investigation has revealed that the weaponry theft from a Negev army base in May was the work of a criminal gang which was employed by a subcontractor at the base. The gang has been arrested and charged and some of the weapons were returned to the base.
An investigatory committee took action against a number of commanders. The base commander was dismissed from his post while the Givati brigade commander and deputy commander and other officers were reprimanded by the Southern Command head.
