Hamas has responded to Wednesday evening's attack on the Egyptian-Gaza border by saying, "We will not allow harm to the security of our holy people," according to Yediot Ahronot.
A statement by the group continued, "Anyone who plans to harm Gaza's security should be prosecuted. Deviation only serves Israel."
