Earthquake measuring 6.5 hits west of Sumatra,Indonesia

An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale occurred this morning west of the Indonesian island of Sumatra . There were no reports of injuries or damage.

The US Geological Survey announced that the earthquake was felt at a depth of 35 km and at a distance of 73 km from the city of Bengkulu.

Several Twitter users reported that they felt the tremors in Singapore.

When contacted, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was aware of the quake but had not received any calls for assistance.
