Haifa Chemicals has informed Chairman Moshe Gafni of the Knesset Finance Committee that it is cancelling dismissal notices to hundreds of employees pending a solution to the idling of its factories because of the closing of Haifa Bay's gigantic ammonia tank.
The tank must be emptied by September 18th under a Supreme Court order due to safety and environmental concerns. Ammonia is an important component in the company's manufacture of fertilizers.
