In a tweet released Saturday, President Donald Trump praised the U.N. Security Council and in particular China and Russia for slapping tough sanctions on North Korea.
Trump tweeted that "The United Nations Security Council just voted 15-0 to sanction North Korea. China and Russia voted with us. Very big financial impact!" and added that the "United Nations Resolution is the single largest economic sanctions package ever on North Korea. Over one billion dollars in cost to N.K."
The Security Council voted to target North Korean exports that sought to deprive Pyongyang of $1 billion in annual revenue as well as initiating other strong steps in response to its recent missile tests.
