A new program for providing "kosher electricity" to haredi communities around the country is being initiated by "The Committee for Shabbat Energy", a group consisting of haredi activists coordinated with haredi MKS.
The idea is to establish small local power stations in areas which are heavily populated by haredim. The power stations will be attached both to the national power station and also to a closed network within the community. During the week the stations will run on natural gas while on Shabbat and festivals they will receive "kosher electricity" from the automated local power stations.
