Member of Knesset Tamar Sandberg (Meretz) has responded to calls in the nationalist camp to grant amnesty to Elor Azariya by saying, "From the right's point of view, the Israeli legal system is a nuisance that would have been better to get rid of. The 'pardon for Lazaria' campaign is a reckless and irresponsible campaign in which the prime minister is participating as the last of the talkbackers."
She continued, "In the State of Israel there has never been a death penalty without trial, and when the prime minister calls for amnesty, and [MK] Nava Boker [calls] to verify the killing, and the demonstrators [say], 'Rabin is looking for a friend [in the grave]' - it's no wonder the boundaries of the rule of law are disappearing in a dangerous way."
