Coalition head David Bitan refused Sunday to retract his controversial statement that the GSS are "cowards who just want to get home in peace."

Bitan said that his words did not refer to the GSS operatives working in the field but rather to the directors.

Bitan said that the directors make strategic assessments which demonstrate their cowardice. He said that "to know that there will be violence on Temple Mount [if magnetometers are not removed] you don't have to be the head of the GSS, but according to this viewpoint we will never do anything because there will always be riots. Maybe the Defense Minister wants such assessments so that he won't have to do anything."
