Shlomo Ovadia, a resident of Halamish and the brother-in-law of the soldier who neutralized the terrorist who perpetrated the massacre, told Army Radio about his arrival at the house where the attack occurred minutes after the terrorist was neutralized. Ovadia said that people reacted fast and ran to the house where the attack occurred without thinking twice. Within a few minutes medical personnel and local guards arrived and provided responses to the attack.

Ovadia said that the proper response would be renewed construction in the community. "The defense minister should stand by commitments and sign the authorization to build."

Ovadia said the metal detectors were not the reason the terrorist decided to perpetrate the attack, since "one doesn't slaughter a family over metal detectors, that's just an excuse. This is a product of the terrorist's education and indoctrination."
