A report by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs shows 5,876 cases of abuse against senior citizens were reported in 2016, up 17 percent from the previous year, including cases of mental, physical, sexual and economic abuse.
Minister of Welfare Haim Katz said, "The figures are worrisome. It is the social responsibility of each and every one of us."
