Yeshiva, college students working spouses for sick days

The Ministerial Committee on Legislation has endorsed a bill by United Torah Judaism Members of Knesset Moshe Gafni and Uri Maklev that would recognize adults in institutions of higher learning and collels or yeshivas to qualify as spouses for the determination of sick days for their children.

Currently these students are not recognized under a law that allows workers up to eight sick days a year for children's illness if their spouses worked those days and signed a special declaration. Employer organizations opposed the measure, saying it will be too expensive for them.
