A few weeks after extremist haredi elements staged a rally in the US against Israeli military conscription, a letter from the leaders of the Israeli haredi community declares that there is no "decree of conscription" on yeshiva students in Israel.
The letter stated that "only those who do not appear in the conscription bureau as required by law are in danger of conscription. The letter described the "exaggerations and descriptions" of the situation in Israel as "partially incorrect and partially imprecise."
