The Ministerial Committee on Legislation has rejected a proposal by Member of Knesset Ofer Shelah (Yesh Atid) faction, which seeks to streamline the handling of the cabinet and requires that a member of the cabinet devote half a day of the week to learning materials that are brought up for discussion. In addition, the proposal states that an adviser will be appointed to the members of the cabinet and seeks to increase the Knesset's oversight of the government's work. It follows the findings of the state comptroller's report on the cabinet's conduct during the Second Lebanon War, the Turkish flotilla to Gaza and Operation Protective Edge in Gaza.
Referring to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, MK Shalach said "Nothing has changed for the better in the work of the cabinet, three years after we were exposed to the problematic path in which Netanyahu is running the most important state affairs ... Netanyahu simply does not want to correct the decision-making process."
