"Shimon Peres Day" will be declared for the first time in New York on Sunday, during a march in honor of Israel on Fifth Avenue, Manhattan.
New York governor Andrew Cuomo announced during his trip to Israel in march that the first Sunday in June will be termed Shimon Peres day.
The march is a joint initiative of the JCRC, the Jewish Federation of New York(UJA), the umbrella group for the NY Jewish community and the Israeli consulate in New York.
