Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely stated Sunday that the transfer of the US embassy is a normal procedure and Israel expects the US to recognize Israel's sovereignty in united Jerusalem. "The recognition of Jerusalem is essential firstly for Jewish justice. Jerusalem was the capital of the Jewish nation forever and only under Israeli rule has there been freedom of worship for all religions."
Hotovely added that the concept of "occupation" is a myth and based on international law and the decision of the League of Nations at San Remo, all areas west of the Jordan should be under Israeli sovereignty.
Hotovely also stated that it is impossible to deny Israel's right to build in its own country and expressed hope that Israel would continue to build in Judea and Samaria.
