Fida Abed Abd el-Hadi, the deputy Palestinian permanent delegate to the UN, sent letters to UN senior officials asking them to intervene on the matter of Palestinian prisoners hunger striking in Israeli jails.
Abd el-Hadi claimed that the prisoners health was rapidly deteriorating and that the hunger strike was a "peaceful protest" designed to justify their demands from Israel.
She also charged Israel with attempts to belittle the strike and to sow doubt among its leaders, hinting at the clip in which Marwan Barghouti, one of the strike leaders was filmed eating in his bathroom.
