Opposition Leader Yitzhak Herzog called on Sunday for a large center-left bloc to run in the elections.
Addressing the Jerusalem Post Conference in New York, the chairman of the Zionist Union faction and its Labor party, Herzog said such a bloc should be formed to create an alternative. He pointed to former chiefs of staff of the Israel Defense Forces Gabi Ashkenazi, Benny Gantz, Ehud Barak, Bogie Ya'alon and others such as Member of Knesset Orly Levi(-Abekasis) who went independent from the Yisrael Beytenu party.
