Outgoing commander Yaron Dekel of Israel Defense Forces Radio has instructed the station's reporters not to use the term "West Bank", according Haaretz. The newspaper says Dekelexplained that the term was adopted by the Palestinians and the left, as he put it, and therefore the word "territories" should be used to describe Judea and Samaria.
The station responded that the order was not new: "In his position as editor-in-chief, and as he requested throughout his term, the commander of IDF Radio has repeatedly sought to use a neutral term that is not biased toward either side. The army also uses the term 'Judea and Samaria' and not the term 'West Bank', which was adopted by the Palestinian narrative."
