Coalition chairman MK David Bitan will present the bill for public broadcasting to the Knesset plenum for its first reading Thursday evening, after the Knesset's Ministerial Committee on Legislation approved the proposal on Wednesday.
According to the bill, the news division of the new broadcasting corporation will be canceled. Instead, most of the employees, along with most of the IBA employees, will be transferred to a new, separate corporation that will deal with news broadcasts. The proposal also states that the management of the corporation shall have no connection with the news broadcasts in the new corporation, to which new management will be appointed.
