Russia: US missiles in Europe violate treaty

Russia's Foreign Ministry on Saturday said US deployment of ballistic missile defense systems in Romania, and a planned deployment of the same systems to Poland would violate the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Force Treaty which the US and USSR signed in the late 1980s in an effort to universally eliminate conventional short- and intermediate-range missiles and nuclear missiles.

In mid-2016, the US activated an $800 missile shield in Romania.

The US plans to create place an additional missile shield in Poland.
