A bereaved mother and the Shurat Hadin organization petitioned the Interior Minister to invalidate the work permit of Human Rights Watch activist Omar Shakir. The permit, which allows Shakir to work in Israel and in the PA-occupied territories, was granted after a media battle and despite Israel's stated policy of not allowing BDS activists to enter its territory.

Attorney Nitzana Darshan-Leitner said that "Israel has once again capitulated to foreign pressure.Omar Shakir is not a human rights activist but rather an anti-Israel activist and it is outrageous that Israel provides him with a work permit to continue his work against Israel and the IDF."
