The Education Ministry made it clear on Tuesday that the school holiday for Lag Baomer will be on Monday, the 15th of May (the 19th of the Hebrew month of Iyar) and not on Lag Baomer itself, which falls on Sunday the 14th.
The move is intended to discourage students from staying up all night on Saturday night at bonfires that would constitute a desecration if started before the end of the Sabbath.
