The Skver Rebbe has offered to his hasidim to participate in the writing of a Torah scroll which will be used in his synagogue in return for taking on a 'good commitment' with regard to avoidance of 'technology.'

The Rebbe's aides announced that the Torah scroll will be written by those hasidim who undertake to avoid the 'forbidden items.'

The Israeli Institute of Democracy recently published surprising statistics regarding haredi use of technology. According to their report, 54% of haredim use computers and 41% utilize the internet. It is presumed that internet use is higher among US haredim, with less filters available than in Israel, so the fight against technology is still at its height there.
