Prof. Aviad Hacohen, Dean of the Sha'arei Mishpat Academic College, on Wednesday evening addressed the Supreme Court’s ruling permitting the opening of businesses in Tel Aviv on Shabbat.
"The decision is not surprising, and it has no revolutionary legal innovation, but rather the implementation of existing laws. At the same time, the ruling should hurt anyone who cares about the Jewish character of the State of Israel,” he said.
“If until know the Sabbath was desecrated in violation of the law, from now on, it will be desecrated with the approval of the Supreme Court the city of Tel Aviv. It is reasonable to assume that the last word has not yet been spoken on this issue, and that other cities will follow Tel Aviv,” added Hacohen.
