Member of Knesset Shelly Yechimovich, who is running for the chairmanship of the Histadrut Labor Federation, has responded to the incumbent Avi Nissenkorn's threats of a public-sector strike by saying, "After three years of slackness and complete abandonment of Broadcasting Authority workers and then employees of the [new public broadcasting] corporation, no one suspects that they interest the chairman of the Histadrut. If there were not elections for the Histadrut this artificial appearance would not have happened."
Yechimovich added, "At times like this, I regret that I did not declare I was running three years ago, which would have required the Histadrut chairman to work for the workers, not just for the sake of a campaign."
