Businessman Rabbi Menachem Carmel, one of the leaders of the haredi-religious Hapeleg Hayerushalmi Jerusalem faction, said on Tuesday that he intends to complain to the Police Investigation Department about wounds he suffered during a police crackdown on alleged criminal activity by faction members related to the Hapeles newspaper.
Interviewed by Kol Berama radio, Rabbi Carmel said, "The police, the heads of the economy, or someone in the Defense Ministry decided that we should be intimidating the faction. We are not a faction. We are the majority of the public. If there were elections now, we would defeat the parties that used to be our sisters." He concluded, "The 'Hapeles' newspaper will be published tomorrow morning as usual, and forever, because the voice of truth can not be silenced."
