The Israeli Press Council, headed by retired Supreme Court Justice Dalia Dorner, held an emergency meeting in Tel Aviv on Tuesday evening.
"The Israeli Press Council strongly condemns the serious and ongoing harm by the government to the public broadcasting system," said a statement released following the meeting. The statement was supported by an overwhelming majority of the Council's members with the exception of two abstentions.
