The Police-Investigation Department has submitted an indictment to the Jerusalem Magistrates Court, charging two former officers in the Border Police with assault causing injury.
The charges stem from an incident in May of last year, following a report of a stabbing, when they saw an unarmed Arab in the Christian Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City. The allegedly beat him with their fists and weapons, cocked the weapons, strangled him, pushed him up against a door and cursed him without questioning him or telling him he was under arrest.
