The Safari animal park in Ramat Gan has ordered five kilograms of matzah to give some of its animals - primarily monkeys, elephants and animals in the petting zoo - for the upcoming Passover holiday. The matzah will not serve as their main diet but as a way for their keepers to view their condition via their eating patterns.
A "kosher for Pesach" mixture will be based on corn and other legumes off limits to Ashkenazi Jews. The park is being cleaned of leavened products but the animals will also get their usual regimen of produce and some meat.
