MK Amir Peretz (Zionist Union) on Friday responded to reports of understandings between Israel and the Trump administration regarding the construction in Judea and Samaria.
"I hope that the Trump administration is preventing Netanyahu from dangerously migrating to the Azmi Bishara plan of one state from the sea to Jordan, which is the end of Zionism," he said.
"The Israeli interest is to strive for a political settlement that will preserve the settlement blocs and not expand the isolated settlements and harm the possibility of implementing the two-state solution. The U.S. position and coordination with the U.S. are always essential, even in this context, but we must act according to Israeli interests."
Peretz added, "Netanyahu's consistent capitulation to a Messianic pressure group and construction in the isolated settlements not only exhausts our resources in vain, but also undermines the security of the state and leads to the realization of Azmi Bishara's plan. Israeli citizens deserve a better government that respects the real needs of its citizens and does not abandon the chances of future generations to live in peace and security."
