Employees of the new Kan public broadcasting corporation will demonstrate on Saturday night in front of the government complex in Tel Aviv against the compromise reached on Thursday by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon regarding the delayed start of Kan's operations and its absorption of journalists from the financially-ailing Israel Broadcasting Authority that Kan was supposed to replace.
Kan's journalists' committee said it is protesting against "the government's corrupt attempts to take control of the free press in Israel and public broadcasting in particular, while scorning hundreds of millions of shekels of public funds and continuing abuse against more than 1,000 employees in the corporation and the broadcasting authority".
