A delegation of Members of Knesset visiting Spain urged Spanish counterparts on Monday to promote legislation that would combat the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel.
The four-member delegation went to mark 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and the European country. In a meeting with members of the Senate`s Foreign Relations Committee, delegation head Revital Swid stressed the need to strengthen the bi-parliamentary relations between Israel and Spain, while Knesset Member Yakov Margi (Shas) mentioned the historic ties of the Jewish people, and Spanish Jewry in particular, to Spain`s language, culture and heritage. Spanish Foreign Minister Alfonso Dastis Quecedo accepted the MKs` invitation to visit Israel as the head of a delegation of members of the Congress of Deputies` Spain-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group, which was officially launched Monday evening.
