An Egyptian court on Saturday suspended a jail sentence against the former head of the journalists' union Yehia Qalash.
Qalash and two colleagues in November were charged with spreading false news and harboring colleagues wanted by the authorities. They were sentenced to two years in prison.
The appeals court on Saturday gave Qalash and his two colleagues a suspended one-year sentence.
