The Yesh Gvul movement and another 90 people have petitioned the Supreme Court, claiming the defense minister discriminates with regard to exemption from military service, according to Kol Yisrael government radio.
The petitioners say that those who seek exemption for reasons of conscience encounter more difficulties than girls who request an exemption on religious grounds. They claim that due to coalition agreements with religious parties, the girls are required to present only a brief affidavit on a religious way of life, while conscientious objectors are required to undergo an advisory committee and most of them are imprisoned.
