Outsider appointed legal advisor to security services

A commission of examiners under the management of the Civil Service Commission has chosen attorney Itay Offir to be legal advisor to the security establishment and the head of the Defense Ministry's legal-advice branch.

Offir will succeed attorney Ahaz Ben-Ari who held the position for many years. Offir is a private-sector lawyer who has not served in the Ministry of Justice or the Ministry of Defense, although he served as an intern for former Supreme Court justice Theodore Or.
