Opposition Leader Yitzhak Herzog, met Thursday morning with Jason Greenblatt, United States President Donald Trump's special envoy to the Middle East. Following the meeting, the chairman of the Zionist Union faction said, "I was impressed by the depth of commitment expressed by Jason Greenblatt in the name of President Trump, in order to reach an agreement between us and the Palestinians and the scope of his contacts with all parties involved in the conflict on both sides, especially the direct contact with citizens and citizens, who are hurting [because of] the conflict and are committed to peace."
Herzog added that there must be a continued effort to try to reach an agreement, "Despite past failures, I welcome the the renewed attempt by the Trump administration to try to reach a peace agreement between us and the Palestinians."
