Phone cutoffs in prostitution and drug fight endorsed

The Ministerial Committee on Legislation has endorsed a bill that would allow a senior police officer and a court to disconnect a telephone line which is used to promote and sell drugs and prostitution.

Such numbers are often distributed via business cards and newspaper ads, and often don't have a registered owner (in the case of a prepaid phone line, such as Talkman), making it difficult to get to the person behind the number.
