A plea bargain was signed on Sunday with former Border Policeman Ben Deri, who was accused of killing a Palestinian Authority youth during rioting at the Bituniya Crossing, near Jerusalem about two-and-a-half years ago.
Deri will confess to negligent homicide. Defense Attorney Tzion Amir told Channel 10 Television he was happy prosecutors realized Deri did not intentionally fire live ammunition at the victim. The plea bargain does not address punishment. Amir is seeking probation for his client while the prosecution is expected to ask for prison time.
