(AFP) A spokesman for Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has condemned Sunday's approval of new construction beyond the 1949 Armistice Line in Jerusalem and said it was in violation of last month's United Nations Security Council resolution against Israel's presence beyond the ceasefire line. The PA's WAFA news agency quoted Spokesman Nabil Abu-Rudeina as saying, "We demand that the Security Council immediately move according to Resolution 2334 to stop the policy of the extremist Israeli government that is working on destroying the two-state solution."
Hamas officials in Gaza also condemned the approval.
