Japan's top government spokesman said on Monday a Chinese aircraft carrier's voyage in the Pacific indicates China's expanding military capability.
Japan said, therefore, that it was closely monitoring Chinese activity.
On the other hand, China says that its aircraft carrier is simply holding routine exercises in the Western Pacific.
