Security Council to vote on Aleppo observers on Monday

The UN Security Council will vote on Monday on a French-drafted resolution to quickly deploy UN observers to Aleppo.

The vote was made possible after Russia, Syria's ally, gave cautious backing to the measure. Moscow had threatened to veto the first draft presented by France calling for observers to monitor evacuations from Aleppo and report on the protection of civilians in the besieged Syrian city.
