MK Betzalel Smotrich (Jewish Home) sent a letter to Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit in which he wrote that "the Supreme Court does not have the tools or required skill to assess the entirety of factors relating to the Kotel plan [for creating an 'egalitarian' prayer space in the Western Wall complex]."
He called on the Rabbinate to receive "separate and independent representation [regarding the issue] since its position is fundamentally different from that of the government of Israel."
