Brigadier General Sharon Nir, Advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces on Gender, responded, Sunday to former commander of the Ground Forces, retired Major General Yiftach Ron Tal, who called the initiative to integrate women as tank soldiers "a scandal that will harm the ability of the IDF."
Interviewed by IDF Radio, Brigadier General Nir said, "When we decide to test the integration of girls in the Armored corps, we do it in a very meticulous way. Even looking at the physiological ability of the female soldier to carry this burden. We will not recruit women soldiers into this setup or another if we know that they are not able to fulfill the mission."
