According to The Wall Street Journal, US officials and congressional staff briefed admitted that the Obama administration had lifted sanctions in January on two Iranian banks funding Iran's nuclear program - on the same day that four American prisoners were released from Iran.
The sanctions on the banks were originally meant to be in effect until 2023.
